  • Former NFL player Ryan Clark has slammed the White House after discovering he appeared in a controversial social media video that mixed football highlights with footage of bombing strikes from the ongoing war.

The video, posted on X by the White House, edited together clips from NFL and college football games with real war footage and was captioned simply: “Touchdown.”

Clark said he later realized he was among the athletes shown in the football clips and called the edit deeply disturbing. Speaking on his podcast, he criticized the use of sports and pop-culture references to frame real combat footage.

“To have Tropic Thunder and football highlights in a video about war is one of the more insensitive things that I’ve ever seen,” Clark said. “There are families in this country whose loved ones have chosen to give their lives to fight for our rights and freedoms. They don’t see war as a sport.”

Clark added that “the White House post involving myself and other NFL players is absolutely disgusting and despicable.”

  • British writer Nate White wrote that while there have always been “stupid people” and “nasty people” in politics, Trump represents a uniquely toxic combination of both.

“Rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness been so stupid,” he wrote, adding that Trump “makes Richard Nixon look trustworthy and George W. Bush look smart.”

He went on to deliver his most cutting line:

“If Frankenstein's Monster were assembled entirely from human flaws — he would make Donald Trump.”
