Burned out by modern life, Thomas Thwaites tried something bizarre—he became a goat.

In 2016, the British designer built prosthetic limbs to walk on all fours and even used a special device to digest grass. He then traveled to the Alps and lived among real goats, grazing and climbing with the herd.

But it wasn’t peaceful. Goats live in strict hierarchies, and when a dominant buck saw him as a rival, things got dangerous. Facing a potential head-butting clash on a steep slope, Thwaites wisely backed down.

His experiment later became a book and documentary, proving that even a “simple” animal life comes with real risks.
