In July 2025, 44-year-old Thaweesak Namwongsa struggled to cope after divorcing his wife. Instead of seeking help or support, he made a devastating decision—he stopped eating entirely and chose to survive only on beer.

For an entire month, his 16-year-old son tried to care for him . Every day, he cooked meals and encouraged his father to eat, hoping things would change. But Thaweesak refused every attempt, turning instead to alcohol as a way to deal with his pain .
