History has been made at Johns Hopkins.

For the first time ever, five Black surgeons are leading the trauma service at Johns Hopkins Hospital — one of the most prestigious medical institutions in the world.

The team is made up of Valentine S. Alia, Lawrence B. Brown, Ivy Mannoh, Zachary Obinna Enumah, and Ifeoluwa “Ife” Shoyombo. They are now heading the Halsted Trauma & Acute Care Surgery Service, a critical unit responsible for treating some of the most severe and life-threatening injuries.
