Nhờ sự đồng hành đó, chàng sinh viên ngày nào đã kiên trì vươn lên và hiện có tranh bán khắp châu Á. Một phép màu khác cũng xuất hiện vào năm 2017 khi bà giúp một thanh niên liệt hai chân nhấc được bước đi đầu tiên, giải thoát người mẹ 66 tuổi khỏi cảnh cõng con suốt nhiều năm.

Kể từ ngày định cư, bà Virginia chỉ mới quay về Mỹ đúng hai lần để thăm gia đình vào năm 2007 và 2009. Đối với vợ chồng vị bác sĩ già, Đà Nẵng không chỉ là nơi mang lại một cuộc đời ý nghĩa mà đã thực sự trở thành quê hương thứ hai từ rất lâu rồi.
