Irish Seafood Chowder – Creamy Atlantic Comfort
A warming and hearty chowder packed with Atlantic seafood, potatoes, and cream — a staple in coastal Ireland and local pubs.
Ingredients (Serves 4):
* 200g white fish (cod or haddock), cut into chunks
* 150g smoked fish (optional)
* 150g mussels or clams (cleaned)
* 150g small shrimp
* 1 onion, chopped
* 1 carrot, diced
* 1 celery stalk, chopped
* 2 potatoes, diced
* 600ml fish stock
* 200ml cream
* 2 tbsp butter
* Salt, pepper, fresh thyme
Instructions:
1. Sauté onion, carrot, and celery in butter until soft.
2. Add potatoes and fish stock. Simmer until potatoes are tender.
3. Add fish, shellfish, and shrimp. Simmer gently until just cooked.
4. Stir in cream, season with salt, pepper, and thyme. Serve hot.
