Garlic Fried Chicken
Crispy Garlic-Infused Southern Fried Chicken
Ingredients:
4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
2 cups buttermilk
6 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Vegetable oil, for frying
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and half the minced garlic. Add chicken and marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Remove chicken from marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece thoroughly in the seasoned flour mixture.
Fry chicken in batches for about 8-10 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature 165°F/75°C).
Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with remaining fresh minced garlic while still hot for an extra punch of garlic flavor.
Serve hot with your favorite sides.
