Homemade Spaghetti Sauce with Ground Beef
Rich and Hearty Homemade Spaghetti Sauce with Ground Beef
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 cup water or beef broth
Cooked spaghetti, to serve
Directions:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and tomato sauce. Mix well.
Add dried basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
Pour in water or beef broth to loosen the sauce if needed.
Reduce heat to low and let simmer uncovered for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavorful.
Stir in fresh parsley just before serving.
Serve hot over cooked spaghetti noodles with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
