Check Your Celsius Energy Drinks, They Might Be Booze

High Noon has issued a voluntary recall after Celsius energy drinks in eight states were mislabeled and may contain vodka. The company reports that a “shared packaging supplier” mistakenly shipped empty cans for Celsius Astro Vibe Sparkling Blue Razz Edition to High Noon, which filled the cans with alcoholic drinks from its Beach Variety 12-packs.

The mislabeled cans were shipped to distributors in Florida, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin between July 21-23, 2025, according to a notice posted on the FDA website. A spokesperson for High Noon, which is owned by E&J Gallo Winery, stressed over email that it’s important to note that Celsius and High Noon are not owned by the same company or affiliated in any way.

“Can suppliers provide empty cans to a manufacturer. The manufacturer then fills the cans with their product. In this case, a can supplier that is shared by both brands erroneously sent empty CELSIUS cans that were mixed among High Noon cans,” a spokesperson for High Noon said in a statement.

No illnesses or adverse events have been reported, but obviously, selling energy drinks with alcohol to an unsuspecting public is bad for any number of groups, including children, alcoholics, and anyone who just doesn’t want to get a buzz on while they’re working out. It would also pose a risk to people who are driving or taking medications that interact poorly with alcohol.

“As a reminder, consumers are advised to dispose of the CELSIUS ASTRO VIBE Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition silver lid cans with the impacted lot codes (L CCB 02JL25 2:55 to L CCB 02JL25 3:11) and not consume the liquid,” the company said

High Noon also provided a graphic with more information about the products that were swapped, including lot codes being recalled. The affected Celsius cans of Astro Vibe Sparking Blue Razz Edition will have a silver lid instead of a black lid on the top.

The company will provide more information on refunds, according to a press release. The recall is being coordinated with the FDA and the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau.

“We are working with the FDA, retailers and distributors to proactively manage the recall to ensure the safety and well-being of our consumers,” the spokesperson for High Noon said in a statement.
