Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies

Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate, depending on preference)
1/2 cup maraschino cherries, chopped (about 8-10 cherries)
1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
Prepare the Dry Ingredients:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Cream the Butter and Sugars:

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until fully combined.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
Be careful not to overmix the dough.
Add the Mix-ins:

Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries. If you want an extra cherry flavor, you can add a little bit of the maraschino cherry juice to the dough—just a tablespoon or so (it will make the dough slightly softer).
Scoop and Bake:

Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden but the centers are still soft. The cookies will continue to firm up as they cool, so don’t overbake.
Cool and Enjoy:

Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
