Cheesy Baked Chicken Parmesan with Fusilli
Ingredients:
For the Chicken:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Marinara Sauce:
1 (15 oz) jar marinara sauce
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
For the Pasta:
1 pound fusilli pasta
Salt for cooking water
For the Topping:
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
Prepare the Chicken:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Dredge each chicken breast in the flour mixture, coating both sides evenly.
Cook the Chicken:
In a large skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the coated chicken breasts and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
Cook the Pasta:
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the fusilli pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Combine Marinara Sauce:
In a saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat. Stir in the chopped fresh basil and let it simmer for a few minutes.
Assemble the Dish:
In a baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Place the cooked fusilli pasta on top, followed by the cooked chicken breasts. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the chicken and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
