Ingredients:
1 bag (12 ounces) tortilla chips
1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 ounces) chili beans (or black beans), drained and rinsed
1 can (10 ounces) diced tomatoes with green chilies
1 packet taco seasoning mix
1/2 cup water
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack)
1/2 cup sour cream (for topping)
1/2 cup salsa (for topping)
1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional, for garnish)
1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional, for garnish)
1 avocado, diced (optional)
Instructions:
Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef (or turkey) with the diced onion and minced garlic until the meat is browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
Add Beans and Tomatoes: Stir in the chili beans, diced tomatoes, taco seasoning, and water. Simmer for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Prepare the Nachos: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a large baking sheet, spread out the tortilla chips in an even layer.
